CSA Newsletter: Year 17, Week 17: October 6 - 10, 2008
Dear Friends,
It is getting cold out there. We should most likely have a frost or two this week. We will pick all the peppers this week and parcel them out. You also will get another eggplant. We were happy to pull in a big but late harvest. Here is this week's rundown:
- Leeks (4)
- Cauliflower/broccoli/cabbage – one or the other, hopefully all week
- Peppers
- Radishes
- Cilantro
- Parsley
- Lettuce
- Tatsoi
- Turnip greens
- Chard
- Mizuna
- Arugula
- Squash
- Pears (1.5 lbs for fruit shares)
- Eggplant
- Garlic (3)
- Sweet potatoes
We turned the hoop houses over this week. We now have seedlings of parsley, lettuce, chard, kale and collards and seed of Asians, lettuce, radishes, cilantro and spinach. Looks like a tasty fall. By the way, some shares have opened up for the fall. They are $125 and payment is due as soon as you can get it to me. I have about 5 slots. The CSA runs on Fridays starting on November 7 and through December 5. Let me know this week if you want one. I will then open it up generally on the website again.

Are you really enjoying all these healthy veggies every week, but still struggling with excess weight, stress, fatigue, cravings, or other health issues? Or, are you having a hard time prioritizing cooking and eating all the veggies you get every week, and would like a little support in this area? If either (or both) of these sentences describes you, I would love to talk to you. I'm a certified nutrition and health counselor with (of course, since I grew up on the farm) a very deep background in food and agriculture.
I have a successful in-person nutrition counseling practice in Annapolis, MD and am now expanding to phone counseling sessions and would like to get the word out about this. An initial hour-long consult is free. You can read more about me at www.ellenkittredge.com.
Well, I know she is my kid, but I did her 6 month course and thought she was fantastic.
