Spring CSA Newsletter Week 1

Dear Friends,

Welcome to the first week of the CSA. This week we will have for you mesclun lettuce, chives, radishes, and spinach. We will also have eggs available for sale on the table inside the door. These are $4.50/dozen and you can leave your money in the jar. There will also be a selection of vegetable seedlings (Brussels sprouts, leeks, parsley, broccoli and perhaps others) available for $4/each.

As far as I know there are two pick-up co-ops in this group: one in Holden and one in Worcester. The 5 Holden bags will be highlighted in pink. The 5 Worcester bags will be highlighted in yellow. For those of you who are part of the co-op, you will also notice the names listed on the bulletin board to the right of the cooler.

I am going to be out of town as of tomorrow morning at 3:30 until Monday night. So if you have a question between now and then, don't email me. You can call and talk to Jack or leave a message for him. I am also including a fact sheet on grains and one on greens that I got from my daughter, Ellen. Soon Nina Marcinowski will be sending out recipes to you all as well.

This week we finished planting 50 more boxes of onions and leeks. That's about 6,000 plants in total. And are also planting massive numbers of the brassicas family (broccoli, cabbage, etc.) Chard will go in on Friday. We got 200 chickens in the mail this week, so our livestock numbers are quickly rising. Spring is in full force.

I hope you enjoy our offerings this week. Hopefully they will get more varied soon!

Julie
