Manhattan Clam Chowder

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons oil
  • 2 chopped onions
  • ½ cup chopped green peppers
  • ½ cup chopped carrots
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 2 cloves garlic chopped
  • 2 cups water
  • 3 potatoes, diced
  • 1-1 lb 12 oz can crush tomatoes, or fresh cooked crushed tomatoes
  • ¼ teaspoon thyme
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon sugar
  • 1 to 2 drops tabasco sauce
  • 2 10 oz cans clams and liquid

Saute onion and garlic in oil, do not burn. Add everything else but clams. Cook till vegs. done, add clams and liquid, heat till all hot, don't boil.
