Our Publications

This is a memoir of our lives and sometimes risky decisions. We relate our early years, meeting and raising kids, and building the farm, the organic movement and a healthy community. We didn’t always go along with what most Americans were doing, especially in the areas of diet and health care, employment, debt and consumerism, energy use, and culture. In this book we explain what we did, why we did it, and how it turned out. We hope it is both entertaining and helpful to people wanting to fashion a purposeful life.

Graeme Sait, one of my favorite Australian ag consultants (Christine Jones is the other one), ran a…

  • The Thanksgiving Tradition

    The Thanksgiving Tradition

In my observation, Thanksgiving is the most practiced tradition in the country. For instance, the heaviest travel day of the year is the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, and Black Friday is the biggest shopping day of the year, the day right after Thanksgiving. It is a big day, and the lead up to it, at Many…

    The Know It All

Yes, that might be me. I have spent my life feeling strongly about many things, and for most of it I have been working on how to get those strong feelings imparted without turning folks off! I interviewed Jack last night to find out how it is to be married to such a person. He…
